Aleks Loesch is a postgraduate student currently researching towards his thesis on: "Sir Terence Lewin and the Royal Navy of the 1970s."
He is also preparing papers for publication on: "The role of media in British soft power following the 2015 SDSR" and "Poland's establishment of its JW GROM Special Forces unit and NATO integration during the 1990s."
In his spare time, Aleks works for the recently founded Science Film Archive at King's College London, run with support from the Wellcome Trust. Supervisors: Dr Alan James and Professor Andrew Lambert

This paper provides an introduction and overview of the Anglo-Icelandic Cod Wars. Further, it dem... more This paper provides an introduction and overview of the Anglo-Icelandic Cod Wars. Further, it demonstrates that academic discourse has yet to analyse the longer-lasting legacies of the conflict coming into the 21 st century. It connects separate elements of existing academic and historic analysis, showing how myths and "psyche" around the conflict have impacted political discourse up to near-current events in Britain and Iceland both subtly and bluntly. It also frames how the Cod Wars fit into broader narratives of decolonisation and women's movements. Finally, it encourages others to explore the topic further and continue the discourse.
