In the general augmented reality tools, they are not designed for large targets but for only adequate size of target which fits in the screen. Therefore we designed and built a vision-based AR system and an authoring method that can handle much larger targets than the view frustum.

In this paper we propose a new mobile augmented-reality system that will address the need of user... more In this paper we propose a new mobile augmented-reality system that will address the need of users in viewing baseball games with enhanced contents. The overall goal of the system is to augment meaningful information on each player position on a mobile device display. To this end, the system takes two main steps which are homography estimation and automatic player detection. This system is based on still images taken by mobile phone. The system can handle various images that are taken from different angles with a large variation in size and pose of players and the playground, and different lighting conditions. We have implemented the system on a mobile platform. The whole steps are processed within two seconds.

To build such a system, we require an integrated framework for capturing the experiences to multimedia data, storing and managing those data, and also presenting the data to the user in a user-friendly way. Due to the mobility of the user, we built a mobile framework that includes wearable devices that enable the user to capture experiences easily, and a Web-based management system that can be presented anytime and anywhere using Web interface. In this chapter, we provide solutions for some issues that emerge in this system (such as mobility and user friendliness), mostly on the database performance.
