Not only doctors and dental doctors, but also acupuncturists have rights to practice. Therefore, Japanese acupuncture is responsible for the treatment of disease and the health maintenance and promote. Japanese acupuncture has been widely used in a variety of diseases and symptoms in the medical field. In addition, since acupuncture be performed using a simple means, it is possible also performed in an area that does not meet the medical institutions. For acupuncture, in order to play a role in the medicine, it is necessary to academic support, and it is required the achievements and steady research. Although it has been accumulated research results with respect to the reaction of the body caused by acupuncture, there is not research relating to the operation of acupuncturists to acupuncture. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to target acupuncture with advanced technology, and it was performed motion analysis. As a result, we clarified the acupuncture motion skill of high-skilled acupuncturist.

Subjects and methods: The participants were 15 healthy professional female baseball pitchers (11 right-handers and 4 left-handers; age, 21.7 ± 3.2 years; height, 162.5 ± 5.1 cm; weight, 59.0 ± 6.6 kg) and 14 healthy male university baseball pitchers (12 right-handers and 2 left-handers; age, 19.9 ± 0.8 years; height, 176.4 ± 3.0 cm; body mass, 73.1 ± 3.0 kg). Throwing motion was captured by three-dimensional motion analysis system. Kinematic data of the lead hip, pelvis, thorax, and dominant shoulder were collected and the joint angle at maximum external rotation phase and ball release phase were compared. Results: The female baseball pitchers rotated pelvis and thorax more than the male at the maximum external rotation phase and ball release phase (p < 0.05). At the same, the pelvis...

Intervention with exercise, nutritional support, oral care, and psychosocial programs is expected to reverse frailty and reduce a risk of disability. The aim of this study was to examine the prevalence of frailty in community-dwelling elderly people using different frailty screening methods and different processing methods for missing values. A total of 1,379 community-dwelling elderly people aged 65 years and older who were not certified to need long-term care or support participated in physical function measurements (PFM) from March to April 2012 in Kameoka, Kyoto, Japan. Prior to PFM, they had answered a questionnaire called the Living Area Needs Assessment (LANA) between July to August 2011. Five variables from the LANA questionnaire (weight loss, slowness, forgetfulness, exhaustion, and walking frequency) and two variables from PFM (grip strength and gait speed) were used as frail indexes. Frailty was rated using cr...

The bowing data of the students was analyzed. The subjects were junior high school first year and second years students (N = 12). For the measurement, three infrared cameras and TEMA, a high-performance moving image analysis software, was used. In the experiment, motion capture observation points were attached to the head, neck, waist and ankle of the subject. The recorded data was analyzed with TEMA, and the numerical values for six points of body movement were calculated. Moreover a questionnaire was conducted to survey students about their impressions of bowing. By comparing the bowing of adults and students, the following points were identified. First, it was observed that the variance in bowing between students differs greatly. The second observation is the difference in angle of the neck. The third observation is the difference in angle of the waist. The fourth observation is th...

This study aimed to examine the influence of subscapularis tears on 3D shoulder kinematics during scapular plane abduction in patients with MRCTs.Methods: Fifteen patients were enrolled and were divided into two groups: supraspinatus and infraspinatus tears either with subscapularis tear (Torn Subscapularis group: 10 shoulders) or without subscapularis tear (Intact Subscapularis group: 5 shoulders). Single-plane fluoroscopic images during scapular plane elevation and computed tomography-derived 3D bone models were matched to the fluoroscopic images using 2D/3D registration techniques. Changes in 3D kinematic results were compared. Results: The humeral head center at the beginning of arm elevation was significantly higher in the Torn Subscapularis group than in the Intact Subscapularis group (1.8 ± 3.4 mm vs. −1.1 ± 1.6 mm, respectively, P < 0.05). In the Torn Subscapularis gr...
