Their information level is so important to teach environmental issues and develop students' environmental awareness. In the study, the misconceptions held by 4th year pre service science teachers about carbon cycle and global warming was investigated. A total of 52 4 th year pre-service science teachers participated in the study. A questionnaire consisted of 10 open ended questions was developed to test pre-service science teachers' conceptions about the key components of the carbon cycle and global warming. Results have revealed that pre-service science teachers have conflicting, scientifically incorrect ideas and many misconceptions relating to the subject.

The study aims to investigate the effect of web assisted instruction with emotional intelligence content on 8th grade students' emotional intelligence, attitudes towards environment and energy saving, academic achievement related to the subject, the correlation between students' academic achievement and their emotional intelligence. Totally 60 students (35 female, 25 male) in experimental group and 60 students (37 female and 23 male) in control group were participated in the study. Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS), Environmental Attitude Scale (EAS) and the Academic Achievement Test (AAT) were administered as a pretest to experimental and control groups. The application was conducted two hours per week in three weeks time and the research was completed in 6 weeks time. While the experimental group was taught by the software enriched by...

With the increases in population in time, human beings started to look for new resources willing to get “the more” and “the fastest”. Just like the invention of steam, firstly, they increased the density of the resources and produced “more” energy. However, instead of working on the density of water, which spreads with the solar energy, they chose an easier way, which was fuel that produced more energy when burnt. Unfortunately, the damages these fuel products create in the atmosphere and environment shaded their benefits. It did not take so long for the earth to run out of energy resources and to threaten environmental and human health. As a result of that, new energy resources were started to be sought and the studies enlightened the concepts of sustainable, renewable energy. Renewable energy is defined as “the energy source, which continues its existence for the ...

The study was a quasi-experimental study with experimental and control groups comprising 54 fifth grade students attending a state school in the 2012-2013 academic year. Lessons in the experimental group of 26 students were taught with the help of web-based teaching materials designed in a computer environment, whilst students in the control group of 28 were taught according to the textbook. Comparisons based on pre- and post-test results were used to identify the impact of the web-based method on student achievement. Findings suggested a significant difference in favor of the experimental group in their achievement in Science and Technology lessons and positive attitudes towards computer technologies and astronomy.
