Irsadi Aksun
M. I. Aksun, professor of electrical and electronics engineering, is the Vice President for Research and Development at Koç University (KU) since 2009. He has responsibility for research administration and policy at the University. He also oversees central research facilities and more than two dozen interdisciplinary research laboratories and centers.Dr. Aksun received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, 1981 and 1983, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL, U.S.A. in 1990. His research interests are: electromagnetic field theory, computational EM and optics, microwave theory and techniques, antennas and propagation.From 1990 to 1992, Dr. Aksun worked as a post doctoral fellow in the Electromagnetic Communication Laboratory at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. From 1992 to 2001, he was on the faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey. In 2001, he joined the faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey, as a professor, and served as the Dean of the College of Engineering during 2004-2009. Starting in Sept. 2009, he has been serving as the Vice President for Research and Development at Koç University.
