German Wikipedia, viewed June 5th, 2024 (Georg Burkhardt later called himself Spalatin (born January 17th, 1484 in Spalt in the diocese of Eichstätt (hence his name); died January 16th, 1545 in Altenburg) was a German humanist, theologian, reformer and historian. In 1498, he enrolled at the University of Erfurt, initially studying philosophy, later also law and theology. In 1502, he turned to the newly established University of Wittenberg, where he studied Greek and History (...). He became the tutor to the later Elector Johann FriedrichHe devoted himself increasingly to his historical research, he collected Roman sources and analyzed them. In 1510 he published a chronicle of the Saxons and Thuringians. He wrote, among others, the biography of Frederick the Wise, he also wrote the first biography of Arminius.)
