The University of Alberta Library created the Student Library Advisory Committee (SLAC) so it could better engage with students and improve the student library experience. Committee members provide feedback on library services and can raise issues or share suggestions with the Library. They also serve as library ambassadors to their respective campus communities.
Membership is open to current undergraduate and graduate students at the U of A. Members are selected through an application process. The committee meets roughly once a month during the academic year.
Over the past few years SLAC has helped the Libraries make decisions regarding:
- a course textbook initiative
- a technology lending program
- website usability
- furniture procurement
- communication plans
SLAC co-chairs:
Angie Mandeville
and Lindsay Johnston
