concerning the linguistic taboo. We selected examples belonging to the political, social or current
speech from communist-era Romanian language, but also to international vocabulary. We proposed
two theoretical criteria of classification of the linguistic taboo. One of them is functional and it re -
flects the relationship between the cause and the effect involved with the taboo creation. The other
is a pragmatic criteria, it is based on the premise that the linguistic taboo could be considerated
a speech act and it expresses the relationship between its success and failure. We also identified some
paradoxical features of the taboo. As a result, we noticed that a ban language (not saying x) often
generates in response stylistic loaded words and phrases. There, where it was supposed to be a lack,
the vocabulary enriches itself by new words or paraphrases. At the pragmatic level, the full success
of the act of prohibition involves the silence. Or, by excellence, the linguistic taboo manifests itself
as lexical form.
Keywords – taboo, pragmatics, semiotics, stylistics, prohibited phrase, replacing phrase
forme lexicale.
Mots-clés – tabou, pragmatique, sémiotique, stylistique, séquence linguistique interdite (répu-
diée), séquence linguistique remplaçante
SOME OBSERVATIONS
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to offer a general description of using the variational indications in
the Romanian Explanatory Dictionary (DEX). All our observations are meant to provide not only an
image of how the words / meanings / expressions were treated from a variational point of view, in the
2016 edition of this dictionary, but also to draw attention to some inaccuracies. In the present
research, we dealt with the following situations in DEX: 1) words / meanings / expressions labelled
by a single variation mark or by the cumulation of marks; 2) the occurrence of variation marks within word families, synonyms and lexical variants.
Reporting unsatisfactorily treated situations does not automatically lead to our normative attitude. The final decision, in case of some issues, will be taken within the Department of Lexicology and Lexicography of the “Iorgu Iordan – Al. Rosetti” Institute of Linguistics.
The purpose of this article is to underline the importance of the words families in the lexical achievement of a semitic language: hebrew. We supported our demonstration by following two ways: from the root to the words (aiming to learn new words) created by certain fixed rules and, on the other hand, from the words (in an irrelevant contexte) to the root (aiming the translation).

The present study identifies and characterizes some special forms of quotation existing in the peritextual components of written Romanian press articles. We find that journalists use mainly quotation belonging of direct speech (and seldom, almost never the quotation belonging to the indirect speech) in order to give an exciting title to their articles.
Furthermore, studying this kind of examples excerpted from the Romanian daily newspapers, we identified a few classes of quotation, established according to the authenticity and also to the presence of the respective quotation into the text of the article and into the real discourse of the source.
We noticed that the conformity (or not) of the quotation in the title to the quotation into the article could represent a sign of manipulation. The author of the article tries to orientate the riders, to indicate them a certain way to understand the message or to memorize the information.
Considering this, we also should evaluate the real utterer of the quotation component of the titles.
