Abstract
We present the results of a study of massive galaxy evolution at z < 5 using the deep optical and near-IR imaging available in the UKIDSS ultra-deep survey (UDS). Based on the results of a full SED fitting analysis we are able to examine the evolution of the UV-selected galaxy luminosity function from z = 5 to z = 6, finding that the characteristic magnitude (M*) dims by a factor of ∼2 over this redshift interval. Moreover, by exploiting the contiguous area and deep near-IR data available in the UDS, we also present measurements of the clustering properties, dark matter halo masses and typical stellar masses of luminous Lyman-break galaxies at z ∼ 5.5.
