The areal conditions, bases and differences of the rural urbanization in China's Coastal Development Region

Abstract

This paper analyzes the regional base for urbanization in rural areas of the Coastal Development Region: the natural conditions; the historical changes, and present-day levels and characteristics of the development of the economy, population, cities and towns.

The internal differentiations of the Coastal Development Region are characterised as the general differences between the North and the South of China; The three gradations of the economic development level between the coastal provinces are similar to the differences between the provinces and autonomous regions of the whole country; open areas have been introduced, into this region.
