Morten Karlsen Sørby er ansatt som ny midlertidig administrerende direktør i Telia Norge, og tiltrer 17. mars ☑️ Han vil lede Telia Norge frem til senest 1. januar 2026, når Bjørn Ivar Moen tiltrer som administrerende direktør. Morten K Sørby has been appointed acting Head of Telia Norway, effective March 17 ☑️ He’ll lead our Norwegian operations until January 1, 2026, at the latest, when Bjørn Ivar Moen will take over as Senior Vice President and Head of Telia Norway, as we’ve previously announced. Morten has worked in telecoms for over 26 years, both in Norway and internationally. He was a member of Telenor’s Corporate Executive Committee for 15 years, holding leadership roles for Telenor Asia and Telenor Nordic amongst others 🛜 Patrik Hofbauer, Telia Company President and CEO: “Morten has extensive international management experience in our industry, and I’m very pleased that he has agreed to lead our team in Norway until Bjørn Ivar joins us. 5G that’s ahead of the field 🏆 The FIS Nordic Ski World Championships start today in Trondheim – and a Telia 5G network slice will bring TV viewers closer to the action than ever before ❄️📺 For host broadcaster Norsk rikskringkasting (NRK), we’ve reserved radio spectrum and installed extra mobile base stations on site. Then, we connect NRK’s 13 wireless cameras to our stand-alone 5G network 🛜 Henning Huuse: “NRK gets dedicated capacity for its cameras and can broadcast live from all of them simultaneously. Because the cameras are so small and completely wireless, NRK can try out new angles and content. There’s even a rumor they’ll have close-ups of ski jumpers taking the lift to the top of the slope.” Of course, we also make sure the thousands of fans in Trondheim can enjoy top-class 5G coverage of their own – leaving competition for places strictly to the athletes 🥇🥈🥉 https://lnkd.in/djT4czci

Our 5G tests are helping to keep train communications on track 🛤️ On a 40-kilometer stretch of railway in central Sweden, we’re partnering with Ericsson and Trafikverket to trial the 5G-based Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) 🛜 This is the first test in a public mobile network for this European standard, which is set to roll out by 2033 and has the potential to bring express speeds to critical railway communications 🚄 It’s part of the European Union’s FP2-MORANE-2 project, which will try out FRMCS in laboratories and on rail lines between 2025 and 2027. Telia uppgraderar tågkommunikationen i Europa! 🚄✨ I ett europeiskt samverkansprojekt ska Europas kritiska kommunikationsstandard för tåg uppgraderas från dagens 2G-baserade system (GSM-R) till det nya 5G-systemet (FRMCS), vilket krävs för att bedriva en säker och hållbar järnvägstrafik. I Sverige är Telia tillsammans med Trafikverket och Ericsson först ut med att testa systemet. Bland annat i vårt 5G-nät på en 40 km lång tågsträcka mellan Katrineholm och Åby. 5G erbjuder högre säkerhet, snabbare hastigheter och större bandbredd, vilket är nödvändigt för att hantera både högre säkerhetskrav och ett ökat tågresande. Det gamla 2G-baserade GSM-R-systemet, som idag används av Trafikverket för röstjänster och automatiska säkerhetssystem, kommer att stängas ned i Europa år 2033. Den nya 5G-baserade kommunikationsstandarden FRMCS är en förutsättning för att bedriva modern och säker järnvägstrafik. We’ve announced an agreement to sell our TV & Media unit, including TV4 and MTV Oy, to Schibsted Media.   It’s in line with Telia’s focus on growth in our core connectivity business in the Nordic and Baltic regions, and our active portfolio management to simplify Telia 🛜💼  All TV4 and MTV’s great content will remain part of Telia’s award-winning consumer TV offering, thanks to a multi-year distribution partnership 🤩📺    Patrik Hofbauer: “Our priority is creating the highest possible value for all stakeholders by focusing on what Telia does best – providing world-class connectivity on which millions of people rely every day – and this agreement clearly reflects that.
