Women and girls are more victimized than men and boys for the purpose of trafficking in different types of work including domestic work, factory work, sex work, entertainment and as marriage partners or beggars. The 1979 Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women specifically deals with the human rights of women and obliges State Parties to take all appropriate measures to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women. The purpose of United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (2000) is to promote cooperation to prevent and combat transnational organized crime more effectively. The supplementation of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime for trafficking is Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children (2000).
