remarkable in addressing the ethnic questions
in the enumeration practice. The profound
elaboration of the racial and ethnic classification
in official statistics in different lenses enriches reader’s conceptual and theoretical perspectives.
Using various case studies from various countries
representing Americas, European, and Asia, the
book interestingly serves the readers with scientific
evidences of how census is actually fundamentally
political entity situated within broader domestic
and international policy debates concerning the
nature of race, citizenship and belonging. In spite
of a limitation on taking other Asian experiences
dealing with the Indigenous people, this book,
as the work of experts, also deserves to be a
part of collections for those who develop and
grow their interest in exploring the place of the
Aboriginal or Indigenous populations in national
development program and policy. To conclude, it
is a big disadvantage to let this book unread for
its practical and scientific contributions for further
researches, statistical practices and policy making.

It has been always proud to present the best articles to meet readers’ interest and expectation for the purpose of enriching theoretical and practical knowledge in terms of linguistics and literature learning and English teaching.
This edition devotes a number of articles discussing topics related to the attempt to enhance the knowledge of English educators and learners namely NRs and CRTs as a item analysis and the application of special self- made word cards for vocabulary teaching particularly irregular verbs. It is also enriched by the discussion on the themes related to culture and literature such as on the identity attached to the ceramics production, the construction of woman and black identity as well as the role of the Quaker to the human rights issues. Furthermore, the discussion on the application of a psychoanalytical outlook on poems makes this edition interesting to be digested.
Therefore, it is worth to assume that this edition is as fascinating and useful as the previous edition and of course, significant to be read for the intention to improve the quality of English language and literature teaching and learning.

A little bit delay has actually occurred for the publication of this edition due to certain technical matters. Gratefully, the editors handled it successfully and here they come with providing the readers and subscribers with a variety of writings picturing the need for teaching improvement and conceptual comprehension in language teaching, linguistics and literature.
This edition, in terms of language teaching, suggests several attempts to improve the quality and strategy of teaching EFL for Indonesian learners. The language teaching issue in Papua as presented by Neti Wagiu, a former principal and currently School Supervisor in Papua, or Maria Liwoso’s idea on helping students understand form ‘Be’ or the correlation between language policy and English teaching in Indonesia in general as proposed by The Head of Unima Language Center, Nitha Liando, furnished the attempts.
The issue of conceptual comprehension of themes in literary works might be detected in the ideas of Imelda Lolowang, an alumnus of California State University at Fullerton, who presents the uniqueness of reading Boyle’s works. It is similar to writings of Merlin Maukar, a student of American Studies Master program, and Ceisy Wuntu, a doctoral student in American Studies who offer the interpretation of Cooper’s and Melville’s work.
In the same purpose as the previous articles, yet from the linguistic perspective, Eka Fitriana, a lecturer in Mataram University and an alumnus of Queensland University, offers a relatively new effort by carrying out a Quranic study from semiotics view.
Of course, this edition is expected to meet the need of readers and subscribers for dealing with the continuously dynamic issues in language and literature as well as linguistics. However, it is also admitted that this edition is far from being comprehensive in covering the issue. This edition attempts to bring the readers to the realization for various issues surrounding the hope for improvement and conceptual comprehension in teaching, literature and linguistics areas. Thus, it is worth for reading.

Abstract This study intends to describe a cause effect relationship between independent variables... more Abstract This study intends to describe a cause effect relationship between independent variables, words printed in cool color and words printed in warm color on the dependent variable, word retention. This study was conducted at second graders of MIPA at SMA Negeri 1 Tomohon in the academic year 2015/2016 and the sample were 60 students randomly chosen from 179 students in all of 5 parallel classes to represent the population that using random sampling technique. The second grade of MIPA department consisted of 5 parallel classes with 179 students in all and 36 per class on the average. It is a quantitative research, the data are in form of test scores, and analyzed using the statistical technique (t-test), the results of statistical testing or analysis confirm that both the hypotheses dealing immediate is rejected which means that the alternative hypothesis is accepted, because at p (or α) =.05 and df = 62, the t (observed) is larger than the t (critical) or 3.023 ≥ 2.000. Similarly, the null hypothesis dealing with delayed retention was also rejected, because at p (or α) =.05 and df = 62, the t (observed) is larger than the t (critical) or 4.062 ≥ 2.000. In both immediate and delayed retentions, the subjects in cool color group outperformed those in warm color group. Based on this result, it can be concluded that words printed in cool color with white background more significantly affect students' immediate retention than words printed in warm color with the same color background also similarly with immediate retention, it can be concluded that words printed in cool color with white background more significantly affect students' delayed retention than words printed in warm color with the same color background. Based on the conclusion, it is suggested for English teachers to make maximal use of colors to help their students memorize new words in English. In addition, the information provided by this study is also important for textbook writers and teaching aid providers. Therefore, it is necessary that they make their textbooks and teaching aids colorful in order the students are interested in reading their textbooks and looking at the teaching aids used.
