La question épineuse du classement des expressions et de leur traitement dans le dictionnaire bil... more La question épineuse du classement des expressions et de leur traitement dans le dictionnaire bilingue, de par son interférence avec la linguistique, la sémantique et la culture - ou plutôt l’interculturalité, mérite d’être étudiée. Cette question est d’autant plus complexe, voire compliquée, que les différents classements proposés par les linguistes ne sont pas superposables : on ne cesse de changer d’optique, de sorte qu’on perd de vue le fonctionnement des éléments linguistiques au profit des préoccupations théoriques. Côté pratique, on trouve que tous les dictionnaires bilingues ont de nombreuses insuffisances, surtout des problèmes d'exhaustivité, de présentation, d’organisation, de fréquence et d'emploi, que nous examinons de plus près. Et même, une fois les expressions classées, l’affaire n’en demeure pas moins difficile, en ce qui concerne le traitement réservé à ces dernières. Pour ces raisons, on s’est intéressé à l’étude du classement et de la traduction des expressions françaises dans trois dictionnaires bilingues français-arabe s’adressant aux arabophones.

Le romancier soudanais Tayeb Salih en demeure l'exemple le plus emblématique avec son chef-d'œuvre Saison de la migration vers le Nord (MawssimAlhidjra ila ashamal), publié en arabe en 1969, où la « pseudo-émancipation » de l'homme du Sud ne s'opère qu'au prix du renoncement douloureux-sinon tragique-à la terre et à la langue-mère. Pour surmonter ce double exil, un renouement devrait s'opérer avec la culture et les traditions du pays. Or, le mode de l'oralité, privilégié dans le roman, est l'une des caractéristiques de cette culture et du discours traditionnel africain. Ainsi, il serait légitime de se demander : quelle importance le choix d'intégrer l'oralité dans l'écriture revêt-il dans ce programme de revanche ? Pourrait-on lui attribuer en quelque sorte une dimension idéologique ? D'ailleurs, n'a-t-il pas d'autres fonctions à jouer ? Et comment participe-t-il de la dynamique du récit ?
