Carbon in Space
Chemists have discovered an abundance of carbon-containing molecules called pyrene in a distant interstellar cloud, suggesting pyrene may have been the source of much of the carbon in our solar system. “It’s an almost unbelievable sink of carbon,” Assistant Professor Brett McGuire says.
