On the backdrop of Global Energy and Water Exchanges (GEWEX) Open Science Congress 2024 being held at Sapporo Japan a special session on Monsoon was organized in the conference to celebrate 150 years of IMD on 10th July 2024. Dr. M. Mohapatra, DG IMD chaired the special session and delivered a talk on Evolution of Monsoon Research and Forecasting in India during past 150 Years.

A Review Meeting for India Meteorological Department activities was held today at Prithvi Bhawan, chaired by Hon’ble HMoES Dr Jitendra Singh with Dr M Ravichandran, Secy, MoES, DGM, IMD, Dr M Mohapatra briefed about advancements in 🇮🇳’s weather & climate services. Hon’ble HMoES Dr Jitendra Singh ji emphasised the need to continuously enhance the weather & climate services esp. forecasts and establishing world class state-of-art infrastructure for India 🇮🇳.

On June 15, 2024, Dr Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble MoS (I/C) for Earth Sciences, chaired a pivotal meeting, focusing on strategic plans spanning 100 days, 5 years & goals up to 2047.
