The challenge lies in the lack of an efficient approach to handle high-impedance interfaces with evolving topologies. We contribute a novel Eulerian-grid-based method named 'Characteristics-Based Match- ing' (CBM).

We introduce a multi-fluid-like, structure-based modeling approach to allow realistic structural and morphological representation of cell organelles. Effective thermodynamic, structural and transport properties of the cellular-component and interaction rules are required for model closures and they are derived from experiments, molecular simulations or theory. We present the model and results of numerical analysis of membrane dynamics inside biological cells, including vesicle formation and transport, membrane fusion and fission, membrane-fluid interactions and membrane-protein interactions.
