Data was collected through feedback forms and critical incidents. Inductive data analysis was used to identify three themes which include: Trusting the Process, Deeper Listening and a Safe Container. The results which emerged from the analysis indicated that open awareness within transpersonal coaching sessions can enable the highly sensitive clients to experience greater trust in their process; connect with something more 'sacred'; cultivate interoceptive awareness; attend to other ways of knowing and engage with the emergence of unconscious material within a held container.

Transpersonal Coaching Psychology (TCP) can be described as the theory and practice of coaching that takes a holistic and integrative approach to support client growth and transformation. This journal demonstrates the value of TCP and illustrates how it works in practice.

It focused on three key areas: the students’ perceived importance of relationships, the influence of the programme on students’ thoughts and emotions and how students used language and collaboration with others to learn. Mixed methods were used to collect data including semi-structure interviews, critical incidents, observations and journal entries to allow for triangulation of data. The interviews were transcribed, and used with the other data to create themes for analysis. The main findings from the study highlight the importance of positive relationships and the opportunities to use language in unique and varied contexts to develop students’ thinking and learning. It also emphasised the positive effect of the programme on students having an awareness of their thoughts and emotions in relation to their learning and motivation. ...

Reiki practitioners are attuned to a traditional and ancient handson healing technique which involves the practitioner channelling life-force energy through their hands to heal themselves or others. The methodology of intuitive inquiry was used, and the interview transcripts of eight participants were analysed using Thematic Content Analysis. Eight themes were formed and included: Opening the Door, Shifting Beliefs, Lifestyle Changes, Healing Crisis, Moving Past Doubts, Spiritual Connection and Self-Empowerment. The results were presented through a compound narrative of the participants’ experiences. The findings showed that Reiki practitioners experienced transformation on mental, emotional, physical and spiritual levels. Many of the participants experienced struggles that they learned to interpret as meaningful. They also shifted their beliefs and made lifestyle changes which led to gr...

The current research on Sensory Processing Sensitivity is reductionistic, based on a Newtonian paradigm and negates the importance of the psycho-spiritual potential and transpersonal dimensions of our human experience. SPS isn't simply a neurobiological adaptation that has evolved for the survival of species, but it has a purpose in terms of the evolution of consciousness, our psycho-spiritual transformation and our ability to self-actualise on an individual and collective level. Research has yet to discuss the psycho-spiritual significance of the temperament and the transpersonal experiences that commonly occur in highly sensitive people.

It can be described as an integrative and holistic approach encompassing all levels of one’s experience, including both conscious and subconscious phenomena. Transpersonal coaching recognises the presence of parts within the psyche. Highly Sensitive People (HSP) tend to have parts which take on more extreme roles or have a larger number of parts which have been pushed into the subconscious.

The research, to date, has primarily focussed on neurobiological explanations and is based on the reductionist paradigm of Newtonian science. This paradigm assumes we can understand something by studying its separate parts and as a result, most of the research on high sensitivity consists of clinical studies which explore, in isolation, genetic and brain structure functionality. This research has been instrumental in attempting to validate the trait of Sensory Processing Sensitivity (the official term for the Highly Sensitive Person) within the scientific community. However, we still have a long way to go in terms of understanding the lived experience of Highly Sensitive People-this includes recognising how HSP experience their inner and outer world, what provides them with purpose and meaning and identifying the struggles and gifts of HSP. Research highlights how HSP process information more deeply, and their nervous systems are more receptive and reactive to environmental stimuli (Aron & Aron, 1997). HSP also have higher levels of empathy due to more activation in the mirror neuron system of the brain (Acevedo, 2020), are more impacted by the emotions and moods of others and appear to be more in tune with subtle changes in their nervous system. It is my experience that HSP are incredibly intuitive and able to connect with what exists beyond the conscious, rational and linear mind. HSP commonly report that they experience vivid, often numinous dreams and are sensitive to subtle energies, emotions and moods of others. Dr Elaine Aron has proposed that Highly Sensitive People are more in tune and able to connect with what exists within the collective unconscious. From my personal and professional work, I have also observed this to be the case and this may include connecting with images, information and emotions that pertain to the challenges and complexity of collective trauma and grief.
