Material And Method: One hundred and ninety-five patients who were presented to emergency unit with chest trauma between January 2010 and August 2012 were analysed retrospectively by age, gender, type of trauma, method of treatment and time of hospital stay. Results: Thirty-nine (20%) patients were female an one hundred and fifty-five (80%) patients were male. The mean of the patients’ ages was 40,2 (3-93 years). 139 (71,2%) patients had blunt and 56 (29,8%) patients had penetrating chest trauma. The most seen thoracic injury was rib fracture (47,1%). Accompanying traumas were observed in 41 (21%) patients and they were in extremity in 23 (56%), head in 16 (39%) and heart in 2 (5%) cases. In relation with the type of injury, 89 (45,6%) patients were conservatively treated while 80 (41%) patients were treated with tube thoracostomy ...

It usually develops before the second year of life and is rarely seen in adults. A 26-year-old woman was referred to our clinic with a swelling in the left supraclavicular region, which had appeared 5 months earlier and grown rapidly. Ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging showed a 7-cm cystic lesion in the neighborhood of the carotid artery and jugular vein medially and the supraclavicular region inferiorly The lesion was dissected completely from the surrounding tissue. The patient had no complications and was discharged on postoperative day one.

The foreign bodies are located 28 to 68% of esophagus .Generally esophageal foreign bodies are located at the as called cricopharyngeus muscle first level in 70%, the thoracic esophagus second level in 15% and the gastroesophageal junction in the remaining 15%. Sharp edged objects and coins may lodge in the first esophagus. In children in the form of deliberate or accidental ingestion. Symptoms can vary according to the shape and structure of the ingested object, type of location, and complications caused by the foreign body. Foreign bodies such as bone and coins are usually seen in cervical radiographs in the hypoharynx and cervical esophagus.Lack of visualisation at radiography does not exclude the presence of a foreign body. In treatment, foley catheter, rigid esophagoscopy and removing the foreign body with a Magill forceps, treatment methods can be used. Rigid esophagoscopy is an effective and safe procedure for foreign body diagnosis and removal.

Anahtar kelimeler: Higroma; Eriskin; Cerrahi tedavi ABSTRACT Cystic hygroma is an anomaly which is usually located on lateral or back side of neck and originated from lymphatic system. These lesions are mostly detected in infants or children younger than two years of age. Occurence in adults is so uncommon and fewer than 100 cases of adult lymphangioma have been reported in the literature. Here; we present a 60 years old patient whose cystic hygroma was exended to the posterior of the right clavicle and relapsed despite the drainage by aspiration twice.

Misdiagnoses may end up with delay in treatment. We aimed to examine the characteristics and surgical results of hydatic cyst disease with atypical clinical features. Material and Methods: Hydatic cyst patients with atypical clinical and radiological features diagnosed in the department of chest surgery, between 2003 and 2007 were retrospectively evaluated according to sex, age, symptoms, radiological diagnosis, surgical procedures applied and postoperative complications. Sixteen patients with atypical clinical features were analyzed for misdiagnoses and challenges in the diagnosis and results of treatment. Results: The study group consisted 7 males and 9 females with a mean age of 37.25 ± 15.69 (16-67) years. Thoracic empyema (7 patients), lung cancer (4 patients), mediastinal tumor (1 patient), tuberculous pleurisy (1 patient), chest wall tumor (2 patients) and bulleous lung (1 patient) disease were the misdiagnosed diseases in hydatic cyst disease. All patients were treated surgically. Hydatic disease was confirmed pathologically. There was no mortality among patients. The mean follow-up period was 21 months and no relapse was observed. Conclusion: Hydatic disease may imitate other chest diseases when it causes atypical clinical features. In order to reduce the risks of recurrence, which may need a second operation, the disease should be considered especially in endemic regions. If exact diagnosis is not known, surgical intervention should not be avoided.
