Shih-Wen Hsiao
Dr. Shih-Wen Hsiao is a distinguished professor in the Department of Industrial Design at the National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan. He was the Chairman of this Department in 1998 ~ 2001. He received the B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Feng Chia University, Taichung, Taiwan, in 1977, the M.S. degree and PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, in 1985 and 1990 respectively. Before joining the University in 1991, he spent about 13 years in the China Steel Corporation (CSC) in Taiwan as a mechanical design engineer and was promoted to the position of project management engineer before leaving this company. He got the Professor of the Department of Industrial Design at the National Cheng Kung University in 1996 and the Distinguished Professor of National Cheng Kung University in 2003. His major research interests include the application of fuzzy set theory on product design, concurrent engineering in product design, computer-aided design, applying neural network, genetic algorithm, and gray theory to product design, color planning for product design, heat transfer analysis, applying aesthetics measurement to product design, and application of reverse engineering in product design. He has published a lot of papers in the International Journals in the above-mentioned fields, and served as an Editorial Board member for several International Journals, and was selected as one of the top 2 % scientists in the world announced by Stanford University in 2021 and 2022.
