Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research Infrastructure
Home / Infrastructure
The Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) provides funding to support crosscutting nuclear energy research and development (R&D), and associated infrastructure support activities, to develop innovative technologies that offer the promise of dramatically improved performance for advanced reactors and fuel cycle concepts, while maximizing the use of DOE resources.
The Consolidated Innovative Nuclear Research (CINR) Infrastructure Program is administered by the Nuclear Science User Facilities (NSUF). The program supports two areas for U.S. universities to apply for funding: University Reactor Upgrades Infrastructure Support and General Scientific Infrastructure Support for Universities. This infrastructure program was established to continue to strengthen U.S. competitiveness in nuclear R&D and ensure that American universities have the best equipment and tools available to educate the next generation of industry leaders.
The NSUF will continue the goal of funding national laboratory infrastructure using an annual Nuclear Energy R&D capabilities infrastructure gap analysis as a basis for determining the specific need and location rather than through the competitive program. National laboratories are encouraged to submit scientific infrastructure needs directly to NSUF.
Who Can Apply?
This is a university-led program.
When does this program open for applications?
Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) are released on varying dates, but this FOA typically opens for applications around June or July.
How to Apply?
Login or create an account at proposals.inl.gov to submit an application.
No-Cost Time Extensions
To apply for a No-cost Time Extension (NCE) , submit a completed NCE Request Form and submit to Tara Haack and cc: Crystal Sosalla. Once received, a budget replan, by milestone, will be sent out and will need to be completed and returned. If you need additional assistance, please contact NEUP at [email protected].
