ADAM YEO
ADAM YEO is graphic designer from the Ivory Coast, He is PhD alumni in the Department of Design, at Nanjing University of the Arts, China, working with Professor Cao Fang (PhD supervisor, Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) member, China Association member…).
His research interests lie in the fields of languages and writing, art and design, culture, and innovation. His latest articles focus specifically on the representation of traditional African graphic symbols and scripts in graphic design and explore how these graphic symbols and scripts can be applied to modern design to encourage artists and designers to use our rich cultural heritage to solve design problems. Since, the application of traditional symbols in modern design has become a new way to evolve culture and its modernity. It also has the potential to harness our cultural identity and bring about significant changes in graphic design, which in my opinion is still too Westernized on the African continent.
How can we create a design that reflects our own culture while innovating and keeping it modern? These are some of the questions that are addressed in my researches.
