This study integrates multi-level parallel computing systems and related algorithms for image pro... more This study integrates multi-level parallel computing systems and related algorithms for image processing and computer vision (IPC the methodology supports the efficient portability of algorithms to multi-level systems and the subsequent comparison of the algorithms' performance on different systems. This research proposes mapping algorithms to achieve high performance portability. For the first time in parallel IPC the processing power of processors at different levels and the reductions between different pairs of neighbor levels are allowed to vary. Both theoretical and simulation results prove the effectiveness of the mapping algorithms; the mapping algorithms produce good, and often optimal, mappings within reasonable computation times. This research could be used to investigate the performance of alternative systems for particular sets of IPC this would help to determine the best system, from a set of candidate systems, for a particular set of IP&CV algorithms.
