Baguio offers a cooler climate compared to much of the Philippines, making it appealing to those looking to escape the heat. Nature lovers will appreciate the surrounding green spaces, although some parks require a small entrance fee. The city also has urban conveniences like shopping malls, restaurants, and retail stores, providing a balance between nature and city living.
However, multiple reviewers highlight serious downsides. Air quality can be especially poor, leading to respiratory irritation for some visitors. Baguio is also crowded year-round and can get even more congested during the summer vacation period. Getting around can be difficult—there’s no ride-sharing and taxis are in high demand, which makes local transport unreliable. Mobile internet can be hit-or-miss; PLDT Smart seems to work better, while Globe is often unreliable. Some suggest that nearby destinations like Sagada may offer cleaner air and better food, though they suffer from similar internet issues.
Overall, Baguio is suitable for short visits if you prefer a cooler environment and easy access to parks and shops. But consider the downsides, especially if you're sensitive to air quality or need stable internet and efficient transportation options.
AI-generated summary of reviews
Much cooler climate due to the altitude and a lot of good nature settings (some of the parks require 100 Pesos entry). Still has the comforts of a city with a big SM mall and good shops and restaurants. Absolutely packed in summer as it's a popular vacation destination for locals.
Getting around can be difficult because only taxis are allowed, not ride-sharing, and the taxis are in high demand. Grab app only shows taxis and often fails to secure a ride. That said, the city is compact and traffic does flow well, probably because of the ride-share restriction!
For mobile internet, I found PLDT Smart works well. Globe rarely works at all.

The air quality in Baguio is awful. I left with a cough and sore throat. Streets are crowded. Lots of traffic. Internet is not very stable. Head north to Sagada for a much more beautiful place in the mountains—equally unstable internet but at least the food and air quality are better in Sagada!

Values shown are estimated visits by traveling remote workers based on the total amount of trips logged by Nomads.com members. Visits to a place are only counted once per year per user, even if they visit more in that year. Visits are also normalized by overall trips added per month on the site, so if site usage goes up or down it does not affect trends. Not all digital nomads are on Nomads.com, and not all Nomads.com members log their trips. So the data is only indicative.

@melissawashin: "I gave my two weeks notice last week, and I'm flying to Portugal in two weeks. It's important to say (for the ninth time) that joining Nomads.com was the best decision I made to best inform and prepare myself for this decision. So thank you a million times over!"
@zackyoung: "You're going to be lonely sometimes and that's okay. One way I combat this is by being a part of Nomads.com and meet up with other remote workers."
