Mozilla. Netscape released the source code! Check out www.mozilla.org for more info! Gravis. According to http://www.th-zwickau.de/~maz/news.html Gravis will release ALL GUS (Ace/Max/PnP/Extreme) driver sources within a few weeks. They will be available to every programmer who’s interrested in working on them and agrees to certain terms. One thing though.. Why certain terms? Are they restrictive? The sound cards are discontinued so why bother hiding secrets about them?? Long delays! Sorry about this, but my 4th year project is rolling along at full speed! To all you HTML authors have a look at HTML 4. There are numerous extensions added to […]

For the next month or so I’m going to be working hard on my college project so updates may not happen that often, maybe once a week (keep an eye on web watcher). I’m enjoying doing the project though. I’m adding some neat features to the web interface by using Javascript, and I’m thinking about adding Javascript here, perhaps for a guestbook. Either that or I might put the guestbook over to the left under the site links (widening that part a bit too at the same time) and make it easy to add a comment. Try plan-example.html for an […]

I might add a guestbook under the links at the left. Read the .plan for details and an example of what it would look like. I got an email from xoom.com saying they’re upgrading their equipment so you may have trouble accessing my page. It IS still here though! Slashdot.org mentioned the Linux demoscene yesterday! Check out the article at http://slashdot.org/slashdot.cgi?mode=article&artnum=1025 I’m completely redoing my openGL demo. I’ve introduced a framing system, and I’m trying to figure out textures from the Mesa examples. I’ll also try generating textures (I have some docs here somewhere..), but if I can’t I’ll include […]

Yeah! Perl rox! 🙂 Sorry about the lack of updates. I’ve been working hard on my college project for the past week or so. There’s only a month to go. I’m creating an intranet based scheduling program using Linux, Apache and MySQL. If anyone has any suggestions I’d be happy to hear them. The only other web calendar program I came across was wcal (err, I didn’t search too hard!) and I’d like to see what others have made for inspiration. Oh yeah, Quake2 DM is cool over ethernet(Well, networking is part of my project! Just coz we played a […]

Two monitors! I have a 3DFX at home and last night plugged a second monitor into it while my main monitor went into the 2D card. I ran my openGL demo fullscreen on the second monitor while I played away in X on the main one. Wow! 🙂 I went on the net and started browsing etc and had the demo running on the other monitor.. ‘s cool IMO 🙂 Groovy! Again from the Linux scene mailing list, the final version of Groovy is out. I found this little nugget on the LINUXSCENE mailing list – There’s going to be a Linux demo compo at Takeover ’98! Get those entries in! Thinking of adding frames, and a guest book.. any comments? Thanks all of you for visiting! I got over a 100 hits yesterday! wow! 🙂

I added a link to glut32.dll on the projects page so Windows users can just download this to run the demo without downloading the glutdlls.zip file.

Exams are over for a while!! 🙂 Unfortunately during my exams I had a spurt of inspiration to change my desktop. Here it is as it is now: **image removed, sorry!** Even more reason the demo scene should goto Linux – cool X desktops! Check out www.linuxwarez.org for some awesome X screenshots! Now I’ve had a chance to digest what Snowman said on his announcement to accept Windows demos I find myself cringing at some of what he said. First of all he calls them winmoes. I just wonder what exactly it was I watched on the C64 and Amiga […]

See those dates next to my links? Date of the last update on those pages 🙂 I had an idea last weekend, (cutting grass is so inspirational!), and I thought about expanding the .plan idea to make it more like QuakeFinger. I’d like to be able to create a list of links to people with web .plan files with something to say. If I could get a shell account somewhere I could make it an auto-update page. (Does nether.net let you run processes “nohup”?) Mail me if you have any ideas or opinions about this.

Two major things happened over the weekend: A gifted Irish comedian, Dermot Morgan, died of a suspected heart attack early on Sunday morning. He starred in the series Father Ted on Channel4 and RTE. He also co-produced an excellent satirical political radio show in Ireland for a time. Try a search for some WAVs of him, they’re brilliant! Also this weekend Hornet decided to accept Windows demos! I see this as a Good Thing (TM) as the demo scene seemed to be languishing and growing stale by trying to stick with DOS completely.
