All You Need Is Kill

If you’ve seen the film, “Edge of Tomorrow” you need to read the book on which it is based. All You Need Is Kill is set in Japan, the main character is a Japanese man named Keiji Kiriya while Rita Vrataski is still an American special forces, The Full Metal Bitch. There are a few differences between film and book but the same basic idea is there which I’ll refrain from talking about just in case you’ve never heard of or seen “Edge of Tomorrow”. The ending is completely different however and I’m not happy with it. Suddenly everything changed […]

Cinderella at the Everyman

Last night I went to my first panto (that I remember anyway). Oh no you didn’t! Oh yes I did! Oh no… Well, never mind! Anyway, Cinderella is on in the Everyman in Cork with a great cast who put on an amazing show for kids and adults. It was so much fun, and I laughed so hard at times I had a three year old in the next seat look at me strangely. The singing, dancing and music are top notch and entertaining. I haven’t enjoyed myself at the theatre so much in a long time! It would be […]

This Ireland Does Exist

A rather depressing montage of the the low points of Irish politics over the last number of years. Mostly since the 80s, but you gotta get Dev in there preaching about our morality too. I still don’t know why they put the “This video does not exist” message over it. Anyone enlighten me?

TCP B22/BC 10 Watt LED 60 Watt Light Bulb

OK, this is an odd subject for my blog. A lightbulb. The TCP B22/BC 10 Watt LED bulb is the first LED bulb I’ve bought and there’s not much to say about it except that it’s wonderfully bright and only uses 10 watts of energy but is the equivalent of (or brighter than) an old 60w bulb. I replaced several bulbs in my home with them and I’m really impressed with how bright they are. As they’re LED bulbs there’s no warm up, they’re instantly bright as soon as you switch them on. All the CFL bulbs that were replaced […]

The Orion Launch

The Orion test vehicle launched this morning without a hitch on top of a Delta IV Heavy rocket from Cape Canaveral in Florida. If you’re wondering what the test is about, or what all the fuss is about, watch this video by Scott Manley as he recreates the test in Kerbal Space Program and explains some of the aims of the test and of the Orion program. Video footage of the real mission was already uploaded to Youtube and here’s one version I found. Interesting bits happen at: 5:10 – Separation of the port and starboard boosters. 6:57 – Stage […]
