This video will be even more upsetting if you don’t eat meat because there’s nothing in this video that you don’t know already. Thanks to my wife, I don’t eat meat very-often these days. She hasn’t eaten it in years, and her influence is showing in our cooking and meal prep. Try eating meat less often. Have a vegetarian or vegan meal once a week at first. When you realise you’re not missing out, have meat less often! You don’t need to give it up entirely. Unless you want to. What struck me most about the Kurzgesagt video was how […]
A pancake with lemon and sugar
It’s a simple thing, but it’s delicious. Some say Pancake Tuesday was invented by Big Sugar and Big Lemon to drive sales of their respective products.
The box of Roses was opened
What’s your favourite Rose? I do like Dairy milk, but the Hazelnut ones are even better. The rest of my family don’t like the fruit flavoured ones. Someone had to eat them. Yum.
Crispy Salt-and-Vinegar Potatoes
They don’t look quite as good as they did on the salt and vinegar potatoes recipe page but they were easy to make. Unfortunately the potatoes were a taste explosion that my taste buds weren’t ready for. The combination of vinegar, salt and a dash of pepper was too much. I blame my blocked sinuses as I’m just getting over a bad cold. Plus I rarely add extra salt to my food. I should have expected this! My wife liked them however. Yay!
Sultan Delight on McCurtain Street
Sultan Delight is a new shop opened on McCurtain Street, Cork, near the Everyman and if this post by Billy Lyons is right, near where the famous Hadji Bey had his shop until the 1970s. The shop sells chocolate, Turkish Delight, teas and coffees, spices, cakes, biscuits and more. The chocolate on display is delicious! I had a Chocolate Orange and it was lovely. It’s very sweet and filling so you wouldn’t eat too many. The Chocolate Mint is really nice too and there’s a Chocolate Smarty in the fridge here at home I’m eyeing up but my son has […]
Food fit for a Sultan in Blackrock
There’s a market every Sunday morning/afternoon in Blackrock village, Cork and one of the highlights is the stall run by Taoufik Hamammi, owner of the Sultan restaurant in the city. They specialise in Lebanese and Moroccan food and it is delicious. I’m making myself hungry looking at these photos, brb. Yum Yum!
Dinner at Sultan
We had dinner in the Sultan restaurant this evening and it was delicious. This is Meshawi Mix, a mixture of marinated lamb and chicken, Lebanese bread and more. Check out their menu.
The Placebo Effect
Via The Cork Skeptics who showed this video at their last meeting when Rebecca O’Neill talked about being a health food shop worker. (Audio of the talk here, Colm’s going to love all the pingbacks!)
Delicious Grillmarkaðinn
If you ever find yourself in Reykjavik make sure you book a table in Grillmarkaðinn. Every single bite was a taste explosion. So delicious! Monk Fish Beef Sirloin The ice cream dessert was actually a disappointment after the previous tasty dishes. As Lenny says, food in Iceland is damn good.
