TOWAMENCIN TOWNSHIP, PA — The human skull and remains that were found in Towamencin Township back in March have been identified, the Montgomery County Coroner's Office announced Tuesday.

They belong to Isaias Hernandez-Geronimo, a 34-year-old man who had just arrived in the United States at the time of his death.

Evidence gathered at the site and a further investigation has not revealed any suspicious activity leading to Hernandez-Geronimo's death. But the cause and manner of his death still remain a mystery and have been noted as "undetermined at this time" in law enforcement records.

The coroner's office, Towamencin police, Montgomery County detectives, forensic specialists, and Guardian Forensic Lab worked together over the past several months on the case.

"Identifying skeletal remains is a meticulous process involving forensic anthropology, dental records (if available), DNA analysis, and other investigative techniques," said Dr. Janine Darby, Montgomery County Coroner. "Since the discovery, we have been working diligently with forensic experts to establish the identity of the remains."

The remains were found on Monday, March 18 near the intersection of Welsh Road and Grist Mill Drive, near Orvilla Road, just before noon. A surveyor doing contracting work near a water retention basin first spotted the human skull, police said.

It's believed the remains were in that location, at the retention basin, for more than a year.

Officials thanked Hernandez-Geronimo's family for patiently working with them to piece together vital details needed to make the final identification.
