CONCORD, NH — Hundreds of wrestlers from five New England states spent Saturday battling on mats in the annual Capital City Classic Wrestling Tournament.
The tournament featured wrestlers from 29 high schools, including New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, and Rhode Island.
First held in 1991, the Capital City Classic was started by Jim Kaufman, the head coach of the Crimson Tide at the time, which had only had a wrestling team for about four years. The event has grown into one of the toughest and most efficient one-day tournaments in New England.
