Herndon High School Theatre Presents "Fiddler on the Roof" May 3-5

Spring Production rounds out HHS's 2023-24 "Season of Curses"

The Herndon High School Theatre Department concludes its 2023-24 Season with Fiddler on the Roof, the seminal classic musical about the tug-of-war between tradition and changing times. More than 80 students at Herndon High are contributing to this theatrical endeavor, both on stage and behind the scenes.

Fiddler, which premiered on Broadway in 1964 tells the story of Tevye, a poor milkman, and his family, who live in a tight-knit Jewish community in Ukraine at the start of the twentieth century. Their small village, Anatevka, maintains its stability by adhering strictly to tradition. However, rising political tensions and Tevye’s five daughters’ increasingly modern views on love and marriage threaten Tevye’s sense of stability and forces the village to confront a changing world.

Herndon High School is proud to uphold its own tradition of producing high-caliber and heartfelt shows, including last fall’s uproarious comedy, Fools, and 2023’s spring musical Kiss Me Kate which received critical recognition with 12 Cappies nominations including Best Musical. Fiddler on the Roof will be eligible for this year’s Cappies awards as well.
