It's been ages since I've really done some deal hunting online with how ubiquitious Amazon is I've realized I'm not up to date with the current ecosystem for finding trustworthy online storefronts. Do you have any sources/tips for finding good quality products (especially with all the AI slop that exists nowadays)?

I feel like its a bad idea for people to buy these. I mean... the screen are weak plastics that can get damaged by a fingernail. Seems like an expensive buy for such a terrible durability. A terrible deal in my opinion.

Comparatively to the rest of the internet, it seems like there are a lot more Germans here. I’ve always assumed it was just because I was on a German instance and was in a sort of echo chamber (join feddit.org btw 🥳), but I just checked Fediverse Observer and it’s the 2nd largest country by users. Anywhere the word “gender” appeared, it was just… gone or replaced.

I've got quite a lot of rice and beans saved up, and some canned goods and I'm a mechanic by trade, 2nd least likely to die in an Apocalypse scenario, 1st being Doctors, of course.

Every time I go to the piefed frontpage I'm blown away by how much more polished it is. It has all the bells and whistles that lemmy is sometimes missing.\

I personally think uncut is better as it looks more natural, and is probably better for bees and other insects. The flowers and other weeds that grow make it look nicer as well.\

I don't fit very well with the idea of masculinity. I'm just a goofy nerd with a gentle personality and the desire to make others happy. I have always wanted to look soft and approachable; I have smooth, rounded facial features, wavy hair, big glasses, and a clean-shaven face. My personality is utterly non-threatening. I love caring for people, I enjoy being silly and whimsical, I'm a bit clumsy and get flustered easily, I wouldn't hurt a fly (unless I had to), and I'm polite to a fault. My paradise is a warm, cozy, quiet safe haven surrounded by cute plushies.

So check it out: Mastodon decided to implement follower-only posts for their users. All good. They did it in a way where they were still broadcasting those posts (described as "private") in a format that other servers could easily wind up erroneously showing them to random people. That's not ideal.

I have noticed that lemmy so far does not have a lot of fake accounts from bots and AI slop at least from what I can tell. I am wondering how the heck do we keep this community free of that kind of stuff as continuous waves of redditors land here and the platform grows.
