In Wikidata properties in statements' main values are sorted in items through https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Wikibase-SortedProperties. However, references to statements can be composed of many properties (e.g. https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P248 + external ID + https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P813), but these parts can be entered in different orders and don't get autosorted by https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Wikibase-SortedProperties. This may be a bit disortienting.
Thus I think there would be only advantages in enforcing the order presented by https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Wikibase-SortedProperties also in the properties composing references, so that references are internally ordered according to that standard.
