For "landscape orientation" mobile website I think it would be wise to put the caption next to the author so that it does not affect the height of the image (image smaller because of less remaining height).

New findings for Android app. After loading in portrait orientation the gallery has 100% width. Changed orientation to landscape and back to portrait again - the width changed.

Closing this as invalid as it turned out to be caching problem. Everything works now in Android app.

The rank of some wolf and cat images were set to "preferred" while other images in those wd items were left at "normal" rank.

Yes this seems to be duplicate of those two and should be closed as T64572 was declined. I am not able to mark this as duplicate.

Why not use dynamic map via Wikimedia Maps?

How long does it take for the static thumbnails to generate? I just reverted 4 pages recently because maps showed default worldwide map. Leaving maps blank like this is a risk of edit revert.

Now the thumbnail in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_95_in_Florida shows again. But in the other articles for other I95 section does not. This looks like on/off issue.

I have new findings - after about an hour of the edit which switched the Florida page to Template:MapfactorForObjects now the thumbnail is stoppled showing again. The JS console shows following:

Works now (maybe due to server restart for another similar bug).

@Aklapper This may be trivial for @Yurik but not for me because I have to setup the whole dev environment for maps which is rather complicated.

Can someone please revert or re-implement this so that the simplification is not so aggressive - it starts to prevent Wimimedia Maps from being used for example on English Wikipedia. The maps can not be used for example to show country borders. See relevant discussion at

Can someone fix this bug ASAP? The solution seem to be really trivial and nothing has happened in more than two years. WMF really fails miserably in such cases... WFT are the steadily rising financial assets of WMF good for when it can not handle bug as simple as this one??? This simply does not make sense to me...

@Evad37 Thanks for your examples - they show the issue nicely. I agree that this should be solved in Kartographer. However as I am not willing to wait for such solution, I created a clone of your Module:Mapframe to work around this bug. The new module and template for its use are here:

And yes, I just identified a problem with the "zoom" parameter. When I leave it out for example in the map in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alabama, there is same problem (blank map with dot). I suspect again P625 is the problem.

And yes, I found out that when wikidata item has "coordinate location" property (P625) then the bug exists. There is a nice example of the bug here:

@Pikne Thanks for your comment. The <mapframe> code you suggest works for me. I am looking at the enwiki:Template:Maplink - it calls {{#invoke:Mapframe|main}} which passes all parameters to Mapframe's main function. I will not be able to fix this template and it is also locked for me. I will try to create my own template bypassing this Maplink's "bug" using your code.

I logged out and in now again and the map started to display now. I tried to log out/in previously and it did not help. Strange.

Can not believe this has been dead for so long. WMF sucks still the same, no surprise at all - what are their millions in assets good for when they do not fund such a simple feature??? This does not make sense...
