i didnt like how the bubls cut of the fishes tail or vice versa at the bottom of the page
Thank you sir for this critique, I have just now seen it. I used to have a pretty good understanding of shading before I joined pixeljoint, but I was commented on that I had pretty much no details, now its the opposite ha!
Funny how you like the bubbles, since I half-assed them compared to the lobe fish itself, sorry I dissapointed you upon looking closer, I'm not a good artist. I'll take your comment to heart though and make more pixels.
Thank you, again.
I overaly like the image. The bubbles are great.
But when I looked coser at it has some major problems. The main one si - the objects completely lack volume.
The shading is not there, or it is only used to create a surface structure, but not to create volume of object.
I looked over your gallery and it seems that all your images have this same problem.
I advice to start with definingh light source(s), then fill wireframe with 2-4 max! shades of color, but use them solely to define shape \ volume of all objects. Like painting smooth, opaque, matte, plastic casting of every object.
Once you have it done and working, you can start adding details, surface structure and color, hilites etc
(this is part of what Im teaching artists for some years now)
Oh, well thats the mark of me being rushed. I created this the day the challenge was ending.
