This is a stunning piece, I'm enamored with the way you've rendered the waves & shoreline in particular.
The vibrant colors work very well !
The only problem I see is the blobby tree folliage. What made you change folliage style on this one?
I think some leave shapes at the outlines of the tree bushes would help the piece a lot. The trees look really blobby and solid at the moment imo. Awesome nontheless!
Oh god everything about this is gloriously gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful. Litrally, the most beautiful waterscape, I've ever seen. (Imaging that last line read by parks and recreation's Chris Traeger)
Nice colours, nice textures (the water esp) and decent composition, but the way the foliage borders to the sky (the rocks and clouds too, but less so) looks so-so. There could be a more interesting silhouette and things getting broken up a bit more. Right now it has a paper cut and paste kinda feel.
And you have some lackluster AA in a few places. I'd either AA everything properly (which would at max take about 1 hour for this piece, if that) or leave it totally without AA. Some meh AA just looks halfarsed.
I love pixel landscapes, and this is a good example. Faved.
There is a really nice "painted" feeling(like fine art actual paint and paint brush) in the texture of the forground stuff. It's my favorite thing about this piece.
Fantastic detalization and colors, very nice overall picture. Though imo this lagoon looks more like little waterfall to me, something like downsteps (because of lighting I suppose). And also transition from background to foreground (waves and still ocean) seems a little harsh to me.
Anyway great work, I like it very much!
i loved the cramped cozy feel. agree with most crits, but i love the dark wave shadows.
i loooooove this piece
Everything in the foreground seems gorgeous together. BG is an entity on its own but it's ok. The trees are very much Slym.
Just an idea, whether or not it's too late: some moss on the rocks would do great things to this piece. Also a white line as the final wave (left over foam) would be very fulfilling.
its very nice i feel like i could just eat it right off my screen like a big chocolate bar
i have only one single concern
the three water waves, their shadow colors look a bit overly dark to me
Thanks everyone!
Dex: Yes we do. I'm working full time with pixel art now, so I have more time to keep pushing new stuff out! I fixed some of the AA areas, thank you for pointing them out. I also tried to address the bubbly issue by bringing everything up.
RBL: Thank you for the critique! I definitely felt that the colors didn't look enough like my work, so I reworked them in a couple places.
Eishiya: Thank you so much! I've spent so much time on this piece that I'm going to pass on any large changes, but I will keep what you said in mind for future works =)
I love parts of this-- the rocks, the colors, the tree texture, that gorgeously smooth sand-- but it still feels unfinished I think. The lack of aa in places makes some parts really harsh, and the contrast of the trees makes them feel like they're all on the same plane, flattening the piece. The clouds also look super bubbly as they get darker; you nailed the white, highlighted areas but the texture as the shadows increase feels a bit too solid.
Overall though, great stuff, and I love the composition and the feeling the piece gives off. We still need to do that collab, btw!
Great picture, but I find the colors too contrasted at dark areas. It seems that shodows were gotten by adding black instead a cold color like blue or purple.
Maybe somebody could provide a tweaked version with another pallete.
Great textures and colours, wow. And you keep getting better at leaves.
The tree canopies feel a bit out of place. The lighting on them is inconsistent with everything else (they look lit from the right, while everything else is lit from the left), and they don't have the same detail-fading-to-non-detail thing going on that's present everywhere in the image, making them look a bit unfinished.
