Announcing patchwork 1.3.0! 🎉 Ever wanted to easily put your plots (and tables!) side-by-side? patchwork is a package for making simple and powerful plot compositions in R. It goes to great lengths to make sure your figures are properly aligned no matter the complexity of your composition. Curious about how generative AI is influencing clinical trials? 🤔 At Posit, we've explored this in a new video in which Philip Bowsher and Cole Arendt demonstrate how Copilot can aid clinical workflows. 🧬 Whether you are a statistical programmer transitioning from proprietary tools to open-source or are already familiar with code-based tooling, creating applications and dashboards using AI can close the skills gap faster, automate repetitive tasks, and boost overall productivity. Wanna see some examples? YouTube video is linked below! 👇

Need to scale your R code on Databricks? Check out our latest post on using sparklyr and user-defined functions (UDFs) to parallelize your workflows across massive datasets in Apache Spark. This workflow benefits teams looking to leverage Databricks clusters for seamless, large-scale data processing. While this tutorial uses Databricks as an example, sparklyr and UDFs are relevant to other Spark use cases. 📚 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gmrHyPQQ 📽️ Watch the full tutorial on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/dqhAdyth

Should one viewer of your app be able to see more (or different) data than another? Maybe colleagues in California should only see data relevant to them? Or managers should only have access to their own employee data? On September 25th at 11 a.m. ET, the Connect team will demo a workflow for inheriting data-level permissions using Posit Connect and Databricks Unity Catalog. While this workflow uses Databricks to illustrate federated data access controls, the same methodology can also be applied to Snowflake or any external data source that supports OAuth. During this month’s workflow demo, you will learn: ✔️ How to define row-level access controls in Databricks Unity Catalog 💻 How to create a Databricks OAuth integration in Posit Connect 💡 How to write interactive applications that utilize the viewer’s Databricks credentials when reading data from Databricks Unity Catalog, providing the viewer with a personalized experience depending on their level of data access ➡️ How to deploy this application to Posit Connect and share it within your organization Add the event to your calendar → https://lnkd.in/gwqwETWH

Have you ever given a presentation and wished you had an R or Python console right there in your slides? Announcing: Quarto Drop! George Stagg recently shared: "Based on a great suggestion from a webR user, Quarto Drop is a Quarto extension that adds a fullscreen interactive console and code editor directly into a Quarto reveal.js presentation. The console is powered by Wasm, using webR or Pyodide, and can be dropped down from above or hidden away with the click of a button or a shortcut key." Meet the Winners of the 2024 Plotnine Plotting Contest. https://lnkd.in/gxpw6KJh "On a personal note, developing open-source software can be a lonely task. I am physically quite distant from plotnine’s end-users, focused on answering issues online, delivering new features, and generally deep in code. As the community has grown, I’ve been amazed at the creativity, inventiveness and technical prowess with which plotnine is used." ~Hassan Kibirige, maintainer of plotnine. And just you're not familiar, plotnine is a Python library that implements the grammar of graphics,  based on ggplot2. https://plotnine.org/
