Marshall is present and ...See moreYoung Richard Breton gets into an altercation with Marshall, but friends interfere before matters become too serious. Later in the day the hot-headed fellow takes exception to a remark of Hardy's and threatens him. Marshall is present and witnesses the affair. Breton and McFadden are partners in the ownership of a mine which they wish to have developed. McFadden decides to go east and interest some capitalists. Breton drives him to the train and in the rush loses his hat. As they have but a few moments to make the train there is no time to recover the hat. Marshall, who has been waiting for an opportunity to wreak vengeance on Breton, finds the hat, which he places beside the body of Hardy, whom he has shot. A crowd quickly gather and things look black for Breton. When Breton returns and learns of the charge against him he seeks the aid of his sister, Paula, who is the wife of Sheriff White. He manages to communicate with her and asks her to hold off the sheriff and his posse until he can get in touch with McFadden, the partner, and establish an alibi. Paula dons her brother's clothes and is pursued by the posse, while Breton telegraphs to McFadden. Paula holds off her husband and his men through the night. When her purpose is about to be thwarted the alibi is established and Marshall pays the penalty for his crime. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
