He informs her that the revolt is brewing, but the Tsarina only wants to know one thing: is she still "the most beautiful in the Kingdom"? Embarrassed, the monk informs her of the beauty of the young Tristana, whose skin is said to be softer than a peach. Mad with rage, the Tsarina orders the monk to kill her and bring her back her "peach skin". In the snowy forest, Tristana is having fun with her lover, Rasoukine, when the Monk and his henchmen arrive. In order to protect Tristana, whom he orders to flee, Rasoukine creates a diversion: caught, he has his face slashed with a sword and is left for dead. Tristana is taken in by seven dwarves in a cottage, where a portrait of Karl Marx sits in the living room. The Monk brings the Tsarina the sword that wounded Rasoukine. As she licks the blood staining it, her eyes start to roll back in her head and archive images appear on the screen (Lenin making fiery speeches, a revolting people being massacred, etc.). In the early morning, as the Dwarves go to work, Tristana thinks about Rasoukine and does not perceive the danger: the Tsarina, disguised as a Witch, approaches her. A spurt of blood splashes the portrait of Marx. The Tsarina then flees, accompanied by the Monk, and ends up devoured by wolves. The Monk, for his part, freezes to death. At Tristana's bedside, the Dwarves are inconsolable. Rasoukine then enters the room and places a kiss on her cold lips. Followed by the Dwarves, he carries Tristana's body in his arms and heads towards a bright and immaculate place. With misty eyes, he asks her: "Tristana, are you alive or are you dead?" Tristana's voice answers him: "I don't know." As Tristana's laughter echoes, Rasoukine addresses her with a final "I love you." Written by toasterinthebath See less
