The chairman of the committee, in an effort to make their emblem a feature of the revival, suggests they secure a stuffed tiger to be displayed during the reception. Jim Little, the former owner of a circus, sees a chance to make some money in securing an animal. Jim tells them that there is no such thing as a stuffed tiger in the country, but that he will get one and have it "fixed" so the animal will be perfectly harmless. Jim has a daughter, Arena, who has a hobby for strange pets. Percy Peace, the son of Little's bitterest political enemy, is an ardent admirer of the girl, but not of her pets. Percy is caught love-making by Arena's father, who orders him off the grounds. Robert Riot, who is a firm political friend of Little's, is also an admirer of Arena's. Shortly after Percy's undignified retreat. Little takes up the question of securing a tiger with Robert. Robert suggests they visit a circus with quarters nearby and get a veterinary to dope one of tigers. Percy has slipped back, but seeing the two talking confidentially, he overhears their plot. He beats them to the veterinary's shop and fixes matters with that gentleman. Robert and Little make arrangements for the tiger to be doped for two hours. When the real doping takes place however, influenced by Percy's previous visit, the veterinary gives the tiger only enough dope to last thirty minutes. Little and Robert arrange to have the tiger brought to the hall during the middle of the meeting. The meeting opens with a rush. The doped tiger is brought in and placed in the middle of the crowd on a table. As the chairman ardently argues for the revival of the party, stating that now is the time to put life into Tammany, the tiger's eyes begin to blink and its tail to twitch. Percy makes a hasty retreat. Little and his friends are comparing the time. They figure that they have an hour left before the tiger will come to, but are nervous in spite of this fact. At the end of a particularly vehement outburst, the Tammany Tiger comes to life, and there is a mad scramble to get outside. It is the custom of the Tammany party to have a parade each evening. The parade consists of several animal cages drawn by a huge elephant, and is in full swing painting the hall when the tiger bursts out. The elephant stampedes, the wagons are overturned and the animals scatter in the city streets. There is excitement among the citizens. The elephant becomes thirsty, and smelling water in a nearby house, runs his trunk through the window. Unfortunately the room is occupied by an old maid taking a bath. She suddenly feels the water receding from about her, and upon turning around sees the elephant's trunk. When she becomes hysterical, the elephant grabs her with his trunk and jerks her out of the window. In another part of the city a bunch of women are trying on gowns. Tammany Tiger suddenly appears upon the scene and there is a record race to see who gets out first. Some of the lions take refuge in a streetcar. The passengers are frantic, and the car runs wild. In the rush to escape the animals, Little is trampled, and the doctor orders him to be taken home and to have absolute quiet. For some unknown reason, the different animals make a beeline for Little's home, and there is anything but quiet there for him. Numbers have proven too much for Robert, and he has taken refuge in a safe deposit vault. Percy calls on Anna and finds the house filled with animals. Being cornered, there is nothing left to do except run the animals out of the house. Although his knees are violently shaking, he succeeds in driving the animals away, and Little grants his consent to the marriage of Percy and the girl.
