Father, however, decidedly objects to Footsy for a son-in-law. The young couple manage to sneak off anyway. Clod discovers their absence and starts out in search. Clod runs after Trickie Tread who, with her companion, Slinkfut, are out looking for an easy mark. Clod falls for Trickie's wiles. Trickie inveigles him into the skating rink to trim him. Clod thinks he has made a sure hit. He does not however know that his daughter and Footsy have "spotted" him and are taking in all of his scandalous actions. Then, in the midst of the hilarity Slinkfut appears and announces to Clod that Trickie is his wife and demands instant reparation. Clod is only too glad to pay over the hush money. The scheming pair depart with Clod's roll, viewing their little stroke of business as an everyday affair. But Tootzie and Footsy take advantage of the situation to further their own ends. Father, finding himself in an embarrassing position, blesses his stars that he can get out of it so easily, that is, by giving his sanction to their marriage.
