Arriving at his office, he finds a happy surprise in being commissioned to go at once to Chicago to consummate the purchase of a mill for his firm. He visits the club to bid a farewell adieu, but, having too many "smiles," he becomes drowsy. While on his way to the station, he falls asleep, and a tramp relieves him of his ticket, etc. The train is wrecked on which John is supposed to be aboard, so his family goes into deep mourning for him. But John is now back at his club, sleeping his "smiles" off, and when he reaches home he receives many congratulations. Written by
