First he trades his jack-knife for a wheel-barrow. Then he trades the wheelbarrow for a bicycle. Then the bicycle for a horse, then the horse for a broken-down flivver, which he fixes, and finally after catching a thief who has attempted to steal his flivver, he finds the knife that was his sole capital in the beginning.
