She instantly regrets her indiscretion, and further advances by the man are firmly checked. It happened, however, that her three year old child, picking up from the table the camera her father had placed there, ran into the garden and snapped a picture. When the husband develops the roll of film he is horrified to find a photograph of his wife in his friend's arms. Suffering from intense grief at the perfidy of his friend and the supposed unfaithfulness of his wife he shows them the picture. With cold dignity he refuses to hear a word of explanation and commands them to leave the house, refusing to permit his wife to kiss their child. She goes to her mother and pathetically sobs out her story, and the next day her old father persuades her to go home and attempt a reconciliation. The husband is seated by the fireplace and the baby is saying its prayers at his knee, bringing a flood of tender recollections of his wife to him. The climax is reached when the baby lisps, "God bless mamma and bring her back to us." Brokenly he murmurs, "My baby's mother! Have I been too harsh in my judgment?" Silently the wife enters, and gliding to his side drops down on her knees and clasps her arms about him. Gazing into her eyes he sees naught but purity and love, and with a quick movement he gathers baby and mother into his arms and strains them to his breast. Written by
