Heram learns of this, and comes to the conclusion that he must save his nephew. Accordingly, whenever Otto obtains a private audience with Belle Fries, Heram interrupts and bears off the widow. The latter is by no means averse to this, for, after all, the nephew is dependent upon his uncle for sup. plies. Otto says he will go to the seaside, and uncle joyfully sees him off, until he discovers that Belle Fries has also taken up her residence at the resort to which Otto is bound. The motor is requisitioned, and a repetition of the interruptions occur. Ultimately, Otto becomes disgusted with Belle Fries. and then uncle explains his ruse. Together the two men return to town, gracefully bidding adieu to the outraged Belle Fries, who viciously throws a bunch of flowers at them as they drive away.
