As she sings, she reminisces about the golden era of Saint-Germain-des-Près and of Cabaret. We soon realize that the Theatre is almost empty and the only audience are ghostly apparitions of burlesque dancers, drag artists, and fire dancers who must be her co-performers in the cabaret or were back in the day. The Cabaret itself is dying or has it died long, long ago? A young dancer seems to have been a former lover of hers as she becomes increasingly forlorn dreaming of him.
