That Spanish name also inspired "The City of Our Lady Queen of the Angels; A Bicentennial Environment" an art installation designed by Tony Duquette which opened in 1981 at the 10,000 square foot Armory building located in Exposition Park.This art environment/installation with its female Goddess icon centerpiece is the second influence in the creation of "A Dance in the Green Garden of the Queen of the Angels". The dance is a ritual that creates and then dissolves a magical imaginary event which re-names Los Angeles as The City of Our Lady Queen of the Angels. All human ritual is religion in action, and this dance performed to spoken word, violin, cello, piano and percussion personifies a female Los Angeles, and names this city as her place. The female dancer represents a synthesis of the Mother of all Mankind, Queen of Heaven and Earth, Queen of the Angels, Demeter, Cybele, Isis, the Earth Mother, and the Mother Earth.
