Full Meaning of Aepheq
Aepheq is an indirect Quranic name for boys that means “one who has reached the pinnacle (highest point) of grace, generosity or knowledge”. It is derived from the A-F-Q root that literally means “periphery” and commonly refers to the horizon, because a point on the horizon is the most distant point from the center of the sky that can be seen, and the meaning of Aepheq comes from the notion that such a person has reached the farthest point of grace or knowledge, and thus they have more of it than anyone else.
The A-F-Q root is used in a number of places in the Quran, for example:
And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. (Quran 81:23)
We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness? (Quran 41:53)
