Washington, D.C. (September 17, 2024) –
In response to the charges of racketeering, conspiracy, and sex trafficking against Sean “Diddy” Combs, RAINN released the following statement:
"The scale of the allegations against Combs is truly stunning. I’m grateful to U.S. Attorney Damian Williams for pursuing this case so aggressively,” said Scott Berkowitz, RAINN founder and president. “Cases against the famous and powerful are watched very closely by survivors across the country. This indictment sends a clear message that every survivor deserves justice."
“What you have is a grand jury made up of everyday New Yorkers who looked at the evidence before them and decided, yes, there is enough evidence here to pursue a case against Combs—and no amount of power or privilege can hide that fact,” said Stefan Turkheimer, RAINN vice president of public policy.
Nearly a year ago, RAINN called for a “full hearing of the facts” in response to singer Cassie Ventura’s lawsuit against Combs. The case was settled out of court. Combs is still facing additional civil suits alleging sexual abuse, separate from Ms. Ventura’s case.
Note: Both Berkowitz and Turkheimer are available for comment and interview.
