The majority of biologists might agree that taxonomy's goal should be to identify the components of biodiversity, especially since accurate identification of the organisms is essential for biosecurity and best crop management practices. However, field knowledge in both taxonomy and application is dwindling. As a result, it is critical to identify any pests or other organisms. Since adopting new taxonomic technology in 2011, USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Plant Protection and Quarantine (APHIS-PPQ) has created an impressive array of identification tools, many of which are gaining enormous popularity. Indian algorithms have not yet been used to create India's own software or appropriate database for this purpose. We created our own algorithm by using Neuroptera (Insecta) of West Bengal, India as our model organism because it is region-specific database dependent, both for the creation of our own "Digital Key" experiment and for the identification of insects that can control aphids, as bio control agents, we have chosen the predator group of Aphids (Homoptera: Aphididae). As a result, we experimentally created www.lacewingsofwestbengal.in, a web platform, and a "Digital Key" of "Genus" of a chosen Neuropteran group.

It has been determined that it is crucial to keep track of crop genetic resource management dynamics using the fundamental diversity data of traditional crop varieties or landraces. The protection of rice diversity and the use of diversity for rice breeding are strongly tied to the food security of this region because rice is the most significant staple food in South-East Asia. Traditional rice types continue to grow in many indigenous societies despite the relentless advance of modernization, which includes industrialization and land use rules focused on the market. Folk rice varieties are also grown in various areas of West Bengal. The genetic diversity among these traditional or folk type...

The level of LDHA in various types of cancer cells is found to be elevated and the dependence of cancer cells on anaerobic glycolysis is viewed as the reason for this elevation. Moreover, inhibition of LDHA activity has been shown to be effective in impairing the growth of tumors, making the LDHA as a potential target for cancer therapy. In this computational study, we have performed a pharmacophore based screening of approved drugs followed by a molecular docking based screening to find a few potential LDHA inhibitors. Molecular dynamics simulations have also been performed to examine the stability of the LDHA-drug complexes as obtained from the docking study. The result of the study showed that darunavir, moxalactam and eprosartan can bind to the active site of LDHA with high affinity in comparison to two known synthetic inhibitors of LDHA. The results of the molecular dynamics simulation showed that these drugs can bind stably with the enzyme through hydrogen bond and hydrophobic interactions. Hence, it is concluded that darunavir, moxalactam and eprosartan may be considered as potential inhibitors of LDHA and can be used for cancer therapy after proper validation of their effectiveness through in vitro, in vivo and clinical trials.

In terms of providing food for a nation, proper grain postharvest (PHV) storage is more crucial than intense and widespread farming. Reducing post-harvest losses of food crops is essential to raising agricultural production sustainably. Each year, insects and diseases destroy or harm a fifth or more of stored food grains in many regions of the world. The angoumois grain moth, Sitotroga cerealella (Oliver), is a major stored grain pest of rice. Control of Sitotroga cerealella (Olivier) is still much dependent on the use of toxic chemicals though there is a chance of residual toxicity to the non-target organism. Rice, wheat, and corn are just a few examples of grains that are crucial to the economic stability of many nations. Cereals like rice, wheat and corn play an important role in the economic stability of many countries. Some indigenous rice varieties of rice are reported to be tolerant of this pest....

Heatmap is a representation of data in the form of a map or diagram in which data values are represented as colours. Cluster heatmaps have high data density, allowing them to compact large amounts of information into a small space. “ClustVis”, is a web tool for visualizing clustering of multivariate data using Principal Component Analysis and Heatmap. Using this web tool, genetic relationships among the traditional mango (Mangifera indica L.) varieties can be visualized. In this investigation ten (10) indigenous mango varieties were selected. These were elite varieties of Murshidabad viz. Anaras, Bhabani, Champa, Dilpasand, Kalabati, Kohinoor, Kohitoor, Molamjam. The morphological and biological characters were analyzed using this tool. Fruit makes a substantial contribution to the world's economy and food supply. There has been a rapid shift in the natural habitat of the local mango in recent years owing to changes in the species' economic, biotic, and other conditions. Indigenous mango varieties need to be documented and characterised to use the genetic resource better and plan future breeding programmes. It is clear from the descriptions that there are several distinct types available. The mango pulp has varying degrees of juiciness, ranging from mild to high. Because of their limited availability in the local market, four unique, rare indigenous mango types were chosen for this research. The pulp of their fruits differed somewhat from one another. Mango variety must be saved and kept in field gene banks in order to make the most of genetic heterogeneity on the farm and maximize yields. As a result of the fact t...

Crop failure is guarded against through genetic variety. However, dwindling genetic wealth erodes the capacity to maintain and enhance agricultural productivity. West Bengal has rich rice genetic wealth. But this genetic wealth is being silently depleted due to the onslaught of the high-yielding varieties (HYVs) and neglect The 10 traditional rice varieties were collected from the Cooch Behar district of West Bengal, India. The present study aimed to characterize the rice genotypes using agronomic characters. The assessment was done following the Standard Evaluation System (SES) for rice developed by the International Rice Research Institute. Even though all the ten local rice varieties were adapted to the Cooch Behar district, a fair amount of diversity was found among the rice genotypes.

Aphids drew attention as they are serious phytosaccivorous pests and a threat against crop plants. Members of Family Chrysopidae (Neuroptera: Insecta) are proven biological control agents against aphids. Natural predators can bring down pesticide use against pest in a proper IPM (Integrated Pest Management) strategy. For this, identification of the existing pest, their natural predators and the pest host plant are necessary. This study deals with the field survey for aphids, aphid host plant and Chrysopidae species associated with aphids. This investigation may provide some essential basic information of occurrence aphids, their crop plant association and aphidophagous Chrysopidae. This may help to formulate an integrated pest management (IPM) strategy against aphid pest of crop plants in near future.

The approximately 500 acres wetland contains forested area, some human habitation, and low but cultivable land. The area is unique in flora and fauna composition. This study has revealed that ‘Patan beel’ contains 49 species of birds. Some of the birds are totally aquatic. Some are migratory in nature. To conserve and manage wetland resources, it is imperative to have inventory of wetlands and their aqua-resources.
