The high prevalence of back pain in the industrial countries is well known. Targeting effective treatment for low back pain in young ages the study was designed to compare the effectiveness of approaches including McKenzie approach and Gravity Assisted Traction using Back Traction Table. Purpose of the study: The study aimed to compare the effectiveness of gravity assisted traction using back traction table and McKenzie approach in patients with non specific LBP in terms of pain, disability. Subjects: 30 male subjects of age group 20 to 40 year with low back pain. Study design: pretest posttest interventional randomized experimental design. Method & measures: subjects were assigned on the basis of sample of convenience and randomly allocated into two groups Group A: receiving Mckenzie exercises and Group B: receiving Gravity Assisted Traction using Back Traction Table. Results: intergroup comparison showed statistically significant difference in disability (p= 0.003) whereas in pain intensity no significant difference was found (p= 0.077). Intragroup comparison showed statistically highly significant differences in pain intensity and disability. Conclusion: Gravity Assisted Traction using Back Traction Table when compared to McKenzie Approach is clinically better in reducing pain and disability. But there is no statistically significant difference between two approaches in reducing pain although back traction table group showed significant difference in reducing disability. It is an easy comprehensible and effective method to achieve holistic results hence should be used in routine clinical practice for rehabilitation of non-specific low back pain. Key words: non-specific low back pain, gravity assisted traction using back traction table, Mckenzie approach.
